Recently we've had #RubbishSorting implemented here in our municipality.

I'm all for it, cause every little bit helps! Most types of sorted #rubbish have their own type of dual-roomed bin. But #plastic and food cartons #waste has to be placed in a big, clear plastic sack, tied up and set out in front of ones house the night before it's scheduled collection day.

It got put out for the first time last night and, I must admit, I am almost embarrassed by how large that bag is!! (Although it does contain 7-8 weeks worth of plastic and food carton waste for 4 people, to be fair.)

Seeing it has motivated me, even more, to continue my practice of taking some string and fabric fruit and veg bags to the supermarket when I shop, taking any unnecessary plastic off my purchases and leaving it with the supermarket to deal with.

I know i'm only one person but I hope that if more people did this, suppliers would start to get the idea and make some changes.

When I see @schoolstrikeforclimate kids studying on the steps of parliament in protest, and @extinctionrebellion taking over cities with music, theatre, workshops and family friendly activities, Regenerative Disobedience is the phrase that comes to mind. It describes those actions that aren't strictly legal, but which have so many benefits alongside the implied climate message that we would do them anyway. These actions can be home scale, like having water tanks, chickens, raw milk and compost toilets in councils where these things are still illegal. They can be community scale, like reclaiming the common land and trading things and services outside the monetary economy. They can also be city-scale, like the bike collective I stayed with in Mexico that went out in high vis vests and painted their own bike lanes to make riding safer in the city for everyone.
