The #PHP UG of SP/BRA have met, at least once a month, for the past 12 years. Here is what we learned:

1) Recurring events are significant to increase audience (e.g: Every 1st Thursday at John's)
2) Know your audience. On monthly meetings, we prioritize Networking so we do a Fishbowl on a bar (#phpub)
3) Delegate tasks to new volunteers early. Don't wait for them to ask.
4) Focus on newcomers. They stay around for 2-5y
5) Companies (local and global) are always eager to help, ask
6) Have fun
