A$AP Rocky (Rakim Athelaston Mayers) has explained why his long-teased album, Don’t Be Dumb, is still not out. In a new chat with Perfect Magazine, he said the hold-up is about legacy, not clout.

He told Perfect Magazine that he is not chasing streams or daily mentions. “I don’t do things to just try and stay relevant,” he said. Instead, he picks “natural” steps that fit his art and brand.
The rapper further said his career now runs on wider plans. Fashion, family, and business all sit beside music, so timing matters.
Legacy over noise
Rocky explained that his aim is to “really satisfy” himself first. He wants fans to see every rollout as a full project, not a test drop. According to him, that is harder, but it makes the wins feel earned.
He also said he does not start new ventures just to “plant the flag” before others. For him, quality and depth beat speed.
