Anyone know how to run the MacOS binary of NVGT which you can download from it's github repo?
I wanna try NVGT, but I want a later version than the one on the website which hasn't been updated since 2024.
When I open it, it just says that it quit because of a problem, and tells me to contact the dev or something like that.

I'll probably sort of die on this hill, and people will not like what I say. And I might even shoot against myself with this. But we don’t need the next 5 little offline audio games that have nothing interesting besides some library sounds, are spin-offs of other games we’ve seen a thousand times, and then get hyped because they’re in NVGT and therefore feel modern because they have reverb and HRTF.
Exactly what I thought would happen has happened: the engine is completely abused for nonsense. Sit down and rather take a year to make a good game instead of copying some crap together that no one will play for longer than 2 minutes. The hype and happiness about "Wow, we can actually make good games!" has switched to "Wow, we can just continue making our old boring BGT games or even just port some meh games over and continue on the crappy code."
I’m not saying you shouldn’t make offline games, but get creative. With the sounds, with the game concepts. It feels like certain people—and I’m not going to name names, but maybe you can guess—just release a ton of stuff, and I can’t even keep up with what’s actively being developed. And bruh, they even charge you money for that.
Keep going with your good stuff, but don’t think you need to release something new every second week. Thank you!

The Wolfe Pack

Follow up with my gamer post. I kind of got an idea in my mind that I'd search people for to make it grow further.
I got somewhat inspired by marvel realm which I can't really enjoy, reason self explanetory for most of us. Sounds quite fun though. I'm honestly not a fan of those typical mini game suites that are timed and are somewhat the same, speaking of things like constant motion, which have some great games, though those 8 games in the longrun, idk. Though I have thought about having a game that could be called, let's say, sea adventures. Sorry for the generic name, has been one I used for a pinned SBYW map and it mostly alines with my concept idea. In sea adventures, your goal would be to, well, explore as much as you can, and be the lord of the sea in a way. This could include levels and achievements, or leaderboards. Each level could then unlock for example a new game. Level 1 a basic swimming game where you'd need to avoid things, or turn into different directions quickly enough before, whatever else happens. Level 2 a fishing game, with some generated quests that will be different each game. Level 3 a boating game where you could first have a point on a map you need to reach, then to upgrade your boat, to then unlock newer boats etc. Or maybe even an island exploration game with dangerous creatures. The options are limitless. Someone replied to me in my previous post saying it's hard coming up with newer things. I want to correct this. This is the simplest thing ever, especially for a blind dude knowing what type of game he misses seing. It's rather hard putting it into reality. For me, because I don't have anyone who'd be willing to write the code, for example.
No high hopes here, though if anyone has been slightly interested in this already and has code knowledge, feel more than free to contact me in, whatever way. I'm flexible.
Incurrage you to share this. Maybe it could inspire more folks. Thanks much

In 2023, me and a friend have started something called heaven games. This had it's ups and downs, including that our first project was quite clonish, though very unique and brought us a lot of fun. We were by no means perfect, and we still arn't. But we were creative. We had several projects going on after our first one, lots of code transformation etc, but we ended up putting an end to our development team. It never worked out for one or another reason. Curious about more of the history of heaven games? Then I incurrage you to read an older post of mine, because I would like to directly get to the point of my message.
Today in the morning, I started the work on something I wanted to do for a long time, soundpacks. Now, since I didn't need to design sounds for any project of ours, I got started on creating packs for games in order to hopefully drastically improve the audio experience of audio games(pun atended). My first one will be jumpsprint by tunmi13.
You may ask why I'm doing this. Is it because I've got to much time on my hands, because I'm simply bored? Honest answer? No. I do it to elevate my and one day others experience. So that even very simple games, runners, sidescrollers, all the oldskool shit we're supposed to play has a brand new polished skin.
The thing we're lacking is creativity. We have so many blindies having all the time in the world, knowing code. But we're not using our abilities correctly. We don't need to be able to be awesome coders, the best sound designers around, I'll never be. It's to put our heart into our work. Not because we get pushed, rather because we want to provide fun for people, included ourself!
We have new resources. Nvgt. Python coders too. Sound designers. Hundrids of libraries. However, the more we got, the less we used them! We're stuck with the same game types, game master and sfx sound libraries, and that for nearly the same sounds over and over again, etc.
Many years ago, when we didn't have much, we have already seen survive the wild come alive, the road to rage, and many other great titles that we had to say good bye to, stw anyway. Why don't we use our abilities and make something much more outstanding than before? Even if it's just a nice soundpack for a game, a simple extra detail, anything. It can contribute greatly. But more so, if people together create a brand new project. It's not about stress, rather having fun together.
I know the simple way is just to let this comunity shut down and wait for sighted people's murcy to write video game mods. But why don't we elevate audio games to a new level? Why can't we make them worthy playing again, with so many more resources than before?
I remember being a young teen. years ago. Games were different and more special still. I had a lot of fun. And I want to give other people back the same feeling, even though I lost it.
ps: Would love to have another go with devving with someone willing.
Pls spread this!

OK need to figure out how to fix my sounds since they were encrypted and also in a .dat file, but other than that, a few quick code updates got one of my BGT games up in about 60 seconds. Pretty damn impressive. #NVGT
Looking at the #NVGT (non-visual gaming toolkit) and I am wondering a few things: are there arrays, are there classes? If not, it seems user-created data types are a bit minimal. Could just be the docs are incomplete.
