Adam had abilities we have now lost. As sons of God, we should expect our mental abilities to be far superior to those we currently enjoy. It is our framework of beliefs which creates that limitation.

We do not have to be obedient for relationship, or to earn something from God. Obedience is an old Covenant mindset to the Law, "there is a law you must obey." We're in a relationship of cooperation, co-heirship - that's different. God does not want me to be obedient to a law that He is prescribing, He wants me to be in relationship with Him, so my desire is to cooperate together in this relationship.

Whenever God does something new, it challenges what already exists, because we are so familiar with the old ways of thinking and doing things.

When Jesus came defying all the religious norms, He was rejected by the religious people and institutions of His time. He brought a radical new perspective, completely reinterpreting Old Testament scripture and revealing the truth behind it. They quickly decided to do away with Him.
