I've had an overwhelmingly positive response to my recent name change, primarily to align with my agender gender identity. I am so grateful for this! ❣️

However, there was one glaring exception. My best friend that I've known for 20 years took it extremely poorly. Her points:
* I am out of control and making very bad decisions.
* As a parent, she believes parents have an indelible right for their children to keep the name they were assigned by them.
* It is against her religion to change names.

It also came up she was not understanding the whole difference between sex assigned at birth and gender identity, and that body parts do not define your gender.

I'm pretty sure I just lost my best friend from this, and am still processing it. But I won't stop this change, because it is right for me.
