New release on #Mirlo: Missing History, by Mark Evans by Lead Mojo | Smelt

An album by Lead Mojo | Smelt Released Fri Dec 18 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) History: there’s a lot of it. And people love learning about it from books, TV shows, podcasts, lectures or even just accosting Simon Schama in the supermarket while he does his weekly shop. But there are gaps in the historical record: events that were repressed by the rulers of the day; books and documents that have been lost over time; and incidents that were simply ignored because everyone agreed that they were too embarrassing to talk about. Luckily, thanks to some deep digging and even deeper delving — plus getting the head of the National Archives really, really drunk one night — the hosts of Missing History, Keith Holbrook and Jeremy Sandland can now fill in those gaps, aided by a series of guest experts on each week’s story. Stories such as: the 19th century landscaping that saw the Middlesex Alps destroyed to enable the expansion of London; the secret 1981 UK war against Sweden; the suppressed scandal of Supa-Sauce, the post-war condiment made with 3% pure plutonium; the world’s first AI, invented by Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace in 1847 and how it ran amok; how Stonehenge was once surrounded by Woodhenge, Hedgehenge and Chickenhenge, all forming a mystical machine; and the hidden history of the third participant in the Wars Of The Roses, the House of Grimsby, a royal line so awful that their existence has been wiped from history. This, then, is Missing History: teaching you the history you didn’t know you didn’t know and the history you didn’t know you needed to know until now. Missing History will consist of six episodes of approximately half an hour each.
