Let’s say you have a pre-existing dataset and you want to do a sensitivity analysis given a set sample size to see the smallest effect you would feasibly be able to detect.

The online calculator to do this requires knowledge about zero-order correlations between variables. Is it a questionable research practice (QRP) to just look at the correlations first to see if running the more complex moderation makes sense?
