So I finally got around to watching the 1972 documentary Marjoe. It's wild. I grew up in a Christian cult, in some ways very different, but it's amazing how much of the core is shared.

Marjoe Gortner was a child preacher who preached at tent revivals all over the Southern US, earning huge amounts of money for his parents. He continued to earn his living this way as a young adult despite not believing in any of it, but had a crisis of conscience. He allowed documentary filmmakers full access to his final 1971 tour.
