Ballerina Anna Pavlova posed with sculptor Malvina Hoffman for 15 yrs to sculpt the 26-panel bas relief Bacchanale frieze. The @nytimes art critic in 1915 compared Malvina’s study of movement to Michelangelo and Rodin. He suggested it was a masterpiece. Pavlova died in 1931 and the sculptor was so bereft she kept the frieze in her studio until her death in 1966.
