More from #luciantruscott We’re designating various people to run Venezuela. Who is going to be in charge there, now that they don’t have a president? “We’re going to let you know who those people are that would run Venezuela. It’s largely going to be for a period of time, the people that are standing right behind me. We’re going to be running it.”

Somebody should find Paul Bremer, the incompetent dingbat who ran the Coalition Provisional Authority, and ask him how that worked out in Iraq. He was the U.S. Presidential Envoy and Administrator of Iraq after Bush fired the retired general he had first put in the job. Bremer was the genius who disbanded the Iraqi army and outlawed the Baath Party, Saddam Hussein’s regime that ran the country, plunging Iraq into sectarian warfare and the insurgency that turned into what we now call the war in Iraq.

from #lucianTruscott One genius at s omething called the “Washington Office on Latin America” – there must be a “Washington Office” think tank in D.C. for every region of the world just in case we decide to do some more invading – referred back to what happened after we deposed Noriega from power in Panama and left an “occupying force” of 27,000. That won’t be enough, because Venezuela is “12 times the size” of Panama with “six times the population,” according to this guy, who is probably paid in the mid-six-figures to Think Big Thoughts about stuff like occupying Latin American countries. At present, we have about 15,000 troops deployed in the region, but we’ll need to “multiply by a factor of five,” and that’s only a “conservative estimate,” according to the Latin America expert.
@JamesGleick. This is a devastating, frightening piece that everyone must read. Thank you for posting it and thank you #LucianTruscott for writing it.
Kevin McCarthy is just a bump in the MAGA road

Leon Trotsky just had a good day in the Congress of the United States. He was the man who conceived of the ideology of permanent revolution, of endless war against the bureaucracy and the evil establishment. That pretty much sums up the far-Right radicals of the Republican Party. They’re not satisfied with a win here, a win there, maybe a draw in between. They want it all, and they want it now. When Kevin McCarthy wouldn’t play their game, they sent him into internal exile. To hell with governing! Up the revolution!
