Morgan Kell's Clantech-customized Archer finished, yay!

My jeweling effects still leave much to be desired but I am content with the cockpit effect. I also didn't add any silly (and typical in artwork) personalizations on this one, thinking that the boss guy would pretend to be a bit more businesslike and skip the EAT LEAD tags and whatnot :D

I did some oil washing on the Archer: first an Earth wash overall, then some spots of Dark Mud and finally Light Mud. All Abteilung 502 oils, they're wet in these photos and I imagine they'll look somewhat different after a day or two. Smoother.

There's a couple of tweaks left to be done, like the gloss varnish on the lenses and viewports, then I'll declare this BattleMech done.

Medium Lasers (forearms and CT rear) painted with a couple of Escorpena Green + cremeweiss layers, the cockpit panels with Goblin Green + cremeweiss layers. I still struggle with these effects.

Then I painted the hex edges w German Grey, covered the floor with white glue and showered it with some Woodland Scenics ballast and some odd flakes of their foliage that I had hanging around. I think it needs a touch of paint still.

I found the polka dots somehow very amusing on this, but still had to blend them away. The two next photos are from a couple of hours ago, after less than a full day of drying. I'll let it sit until Sunday evening before I go for the lenses or base, I just wanted to see the work in progress.

Threeish days later the Archer is ready for a tiny bit off buffing. Then a few days of sitting until I can paint the viewports and four laser lenses.

First oil wash (Abteilung's Sepia). This is the third time I use oils and I just enjoy the real life undo-option!

Now I'll let this one to dry for some days to a week before I maybe give a simple dot-filter. Or I just jump to an overhead buffing. We'll find out soon enough!

I decided I'd do the cockpit and those two tiny ERMLas lenses as the last details. No clue about the base yet, something simple.

This was a quick but I think a decent-looking detailing session. I just freehanded (or rather, attempted to) a Kell Hounds insignia on the Left Torso, on the open LRM door.

I also found out that my VMA Medium Yellow was mostly a semi-wet lump in the bottle but managed to use it for some caution stripes. Or should it be called hazard striping? Anyway, those yellow-black decorations but with German Grey.

Another 45min session got my Archer more detailed. I tried to highlight the black bits by applying a German Grey paneling. I also painted all metallics with it, except for the LRM launchers that got Gunmetal.

On the topmost or most sunlight-touched red bits I applied Ferrari Red paneling. Maybe I'll do some gentle caution striping in select spots before I start oil washing all around 🤔
