@doctormo Karl Popper called this #justificationism, and argued that true science is non-#justificationist. (Sadly, this leaves behind much current social 'science', including Medicine!)

@petersuber Even in the best of times, the fundamentally #justificationist science-funding culture could hardly be asked to come to terms with the #falsificationist underpinnings of true Science. It's all quite sad; acquisition of data that falsify a hypothesis ought to be the most exciting thing in science.
