In the uncounted years of our fight with the Great Algo, our Lady Joan Mastodon had lost many a battle, seen many temporary defeats. But she had always maintained an unquestioning belief in the absolute validity of our cause and our eventual success. Today, it seemed that all hope had gone.
"It's over-cooked!", our Lady whined. "The green beans are falling apart, and the mutton is lifeless blubber, not the life-affirming revelation of a just-right joint. And the carrots ... oh, words fail me. This is the end."
"I find it quite OK", Sir Archibald said. "Probably not your best dish ever, I grant you," (he paused and took another spoon), "but I rather like it. The beetroot is a stroke of genius. Let go, Jenny, next time you give it twenty minutes less and all is good."
Our Lady Joan did regain her composure, in time.
She really loved to get it right when she cooked for her knights.
Sir Archibald often drafted long posts, then re-read them, then deleted them without trace. Over dinner in the Great Hall, some of the more boisterous knights made rude (if good-natured) jokes about it.
"Deleting is good and Sir Archibald is right", our Lady Joan Mastodon finally intervened. "His deleted toots speak louder than any published toot ever will. If you know how to listen, you can hear his untoots. They are beautiful."
"As is everything you do, Archie," she said quietly to her old friend.
