I’m all for building on top of #Tor, no registrars, no DNS, no Certificate Authorities.

That’s why all the #DefCon and #InfoCon services are available over .onion sites as well.

Our main tracker software has been upgraded, please let us know if you notice any changes or problems!

Giant update of the conferences collections completed, now I just need to update the Security BSides sub directory and then all cons will have been updated to AV1 for pseudo-streaming and English captions added! https://infocon.org/cons
#InfoCon

Time to rest. That was a giant push to get all the updates of the cons directory on the server.

Next is the long process of generating all the torrents and getting them in the tracker and on the torrent servers. That will take weeks, but at least the website has the latest.

InfoCon.org

InfoCon.org is an archive of hacking and security conference videos, documentaries, rainbow tables, word lists and podcasts.

The RTX6000Ada is cooking along, encoding and captioning. A big update in the works, should be a week or two until the next one goes live.

We have started a project to re-encode all the past conferences that are no longer operating.

Generally we just focus on updates, but over time as more cons stop operating we are leaving bhind those in he older video format (HEVC) for the newer, streamable, AV1

As we re-encode the older cons we also generate English captions and embed them into the video files.

This project should take over 6 months of “spare” time, hopefully complete by #DefCon 34!

When working on the #InfoCon collections I noticed the #CCC CryptoCon website TLS certificate expired back in March. https://cryptocon.org/

They have HSTS enabled so I can't just ignore the error with a modern browser, maybe wget or curl will work.

Finally getting around to something I’ve always wanted to do. Fix the @ShmooCon videos for 2008, 2009, and 2010. Each talk is a series of many small video files.

Because I’m in the process of transcoding to AV1 and adding captions to #ShmooCon, I’m finally going to manually join all the individual pieces to create a single video file per talk.

I usually don’t do this kind of work for conferences that can’t do it themselves, but I like ShmooCon and they had their final year last year. I want to pay them homage by creating a complete collection of their talks in time to include it on the #infocon.org data duplication village hard drive at #DEFCON this year.

Recent #InfoCon updates:
These conference series have been completely re-encoded into AV1 format to pseudo-stream in your browser. All videos have had English captions generated and embedded into the video as well as saved in a subdirectory.

Looks like the #Tor Proof of Work (PoW) defenses are working for our #DEFCON and #InfoCon .onion sites!
