Ai ai ai muenchen.social und troet.cafe das schon bitter. Das sind insgesamt 40k Accounts mit 10k Nutzern pro Monat. Eine Riesenmigration wird das.

Luke VegasOk so #homesocial shut down apparently and my mastodon account was gone just a few months after joining. Hello #mastodonsocial. I guess stuff like this isn’t really user friendly for the average Joe and a big reason why those polished but proprietary platforms continue to thrive.

Update. I've been scrolling through my posting display weekly and waiting to see what happens when this new server finally clears its cache.
All boosts off home.social are gone plus all the lingering follows to/from home.social.
So that answers the question. Even if you keep them active, boosting/bookmarking your posts is a temporary fix. Physically moving them from X to Y with MCM is the only way to actually save them.
Yesterday I saw people trying to lure naive Twitter users onto their "protest" instances W/O explaining the meta defederation plans up front.
That's ... deeply uncool behavior. IMHO.

You likely can't migrate directly to/from gated communities. Or see anyone outside them.

@deano I'm so sorry to hear this. I was very attached to that instance as well. The majority of the people I was following were #homesocial and I'll boost in case some of them were following you there.
