WTF is going on in this area? There have been *two* fatal RTCs around the #Hindhead #tunnel in #Surrey close to each other (this report is the second one, there was a different one a couple of weeks ago).

I can't see anything obvious around the tunnel or its surroundings that would cause #RoadSafety problems, its a relatively new stretch of road with what appears to be plenty of room.

Anyone here live nearby? Does this area become particularly congested around rush hour, encouraging risky moves by #drivers ?

A grim story. A gibbet once stood near where this stone cross now stands on Hindhead Common in Surrey, England. On that gibbet in 1786, hung the bodies of three murderers who robbed and killed a sailor and were sentenced to be hanged for their crime. A storm brought down the remains of the bodies three years later, and nearby a commerative stone includes the words "Whoso Sheddeth Man's Blood by Man Shall his Blood be Shed. Gen. Chap 9 Ver 6".
