The Brussels fire brigade and emergency services were called to the Brussels suburb of Jette on Monday to free a 20-year-old man from a bottle bank. The young man survived the ordeal of being stuck in the subterranean container with only a few scratches to show.

The southbound E19 motorway at Loenhout in Antwerp Province was completely blocked on Tuesday morning after a lorry shed its load of carrots across the carriageway. The lorry shed its load after it was involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up with 3 other lorries and a car. A passenger in the car was injured in the crash.
