This group is bilingual (Italian/English): it aims at storing examples of “asemic writing” created before the year 1997. In that year the term “asemic” was first used in English by John Byrum, in a message to Jim Leftwich, about some peculiar linear poetry.
As a matter of fact, several kinds of illegible writing and glyphs (or “scrittura asemantica”, as Gillo Dorfles called it in 1974) appeared from time to time in the Western and Eastern tradition, mostly in the 20th century.
Our group wants to collect infos and images documenting this.
Please, post only works made before the year 1997. Always provide the author’s name + year.
Admins are Enzo Patti and Marco Giovenale, with Toni Romanelli.

Questo gruppo è bilingue (italiano/inglese): ha come scopo quello di archiviare esempi di “asemic writing” creati prima del 1997. In quell’anno il termine “asemic” fu usato per la prima volta in inglese da John Byrum, in un messaggio a Jim Leftwich, a proposito di certa specifica poesia lineare.
In effetti, nella tradizione occidentale e orientale sono comparsi di tanto in tanto diversi tipi di glifi e di scrittura illeggibile (o “scrittura asemantica”, come la chiamò Gillo Dorfles nel 1974), soprattutto nel Novecento.
Il nostro gruppo vuole raccogliere informazioni e immagini che lo documentano.
Si prega di postare solo opere precedenti il 1997. Accludendo sempre il nome dell’artista + l’anno.
