Watched the first 5 episodes of Gargantia. It's about a mech pilot who knows nothing except fighting who gets isekai'd to future Earth. He doesn't know how to be a person and has to learn to be less of a machine. I really like this concept, but I think for an isekai to be enjoyable, the new world has to be likable. Gargantia is not... It's a big, rusty ugly fleet of ships. Unpleasant to look at.

Also the morals of the Gargantians aren't reasonable... The pilot, Ledo, and his mech, Chamber, are asked to defend against pirates. Pirates who are killing people and ripping a woman's clothes off. Ledo and Chamber kill the pirates and then get scolded for "murder" even though the pirates were literally killing and assaulting people and Ledo and Chamber were asked to provide defense! Then in the next episode the pirates attack Gargantia again and do lots of damage... it's so dumb.

Another thing. Ledo is disgusted when he sees the Gargantians eating animal corpses. After they criticize him for killing the pirates, he asks them why they eat meat, if they're so against taking lives. A woman tells him they only kill as much as they need to survive. But there are multiple scenes of the characters eating and meat seems to make up 95% of their diet...

The worldbuilding is unappealing and dumb. Also, episode 5 had some extremely terrible stereotypes of transfem prostitutes, so with all these issues, I am dropping this one.

If you have any suggestions for better short fun isekai anime, I'm all ears!
