So, a long-time, much beloved media legend was stripped of their show recently.
I am of course talking about #MichaelGarfield who left #SFIComplexity, one of my favourite podcasts, at the end of March.
I'm discovering his other (and now primary) podcast, #FutureFossils https://shows.acast.com/futurefossils. I'm disappointed in SFI (though apparently Complexity will continue).
Garfield doesn't appear to post a public email address and isn't on the Fediverse that I'm seeing. He does post to birbsite. The increasingly siloed and feudal Internet is also grating on me....
I have a strong hunch that this is only part of a larger set of fallout in media as the economy, advertising, and other (mostly corporate) support of media and epistemic institutions falters. Though in the broader media world that's not the only factor at play.
Still a human being FYI
Gave a long podcast with #FutureFossils today on #AIart and was reminded how little we share of our human selves in some cases, especially as we age
Here I am in my 40s, my aunt is in her 60s - her grandkids are some of my favorite #generativeart collaborators

How long before I can upload every episode of #futurefossils into probiotics so you can walk around with conversations in your guts?
