#Disney to merge #Hulu Live TV streaming service with smaller but more sportscentric competitor #Fubu in a surprise deal announced Monday that will put offerings on par with #YouTubeTV .

YouTube TV said a year ago that it had 8 million subscribers, while Hulu + Live TV had 4.6 million subscribers and Fubo had 1.6 million subscribers, giving the new offering a potential 6.2 million subs to better compete.

FUBU founder David Gandler said "the Hulu product is really focused on providing a full #entertainment bundle ...and Fubo will continue to focus on its #sports first service, with the ability to launch skinnier sports bundles.”

The deal does not include the core pre-recorded Hulu SVOD ( Streaming Video On Demand) service, and is focused only on the vMVPD (Virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distribution), the live #streaming service that delivers channel #content on-demand live over the internet.
