Foveated rendering is such a cool concept and I'm pumped that Sony seems to have nailed it in the PSVR 2.
Here's a headlight of a Carrera GT in the VR showroom of GT7. Both taken from the same scene, but in one I'm looking right at it, and in the other I'm looking at the other side of the car, away from tbe same headlight. Notice the quality difference.
I can't see this happening at all while using the headset. It's completely seamless. I call that a resounding success!
(foveated rendering is when a VR headset tracks your eye movement and only keeps a small portion of the scene rendered with high detail, based on where the retina's most sensitive area is looking, meaning the other portions are less graphically demanding)
