I'm increasingly enamoured by things like @freebliss 's #Faircamp (a static site generator for audio - a self-hosted Bandcamp, if you will) and #Fgallery (a static site generator for images). I'd be interested in something similar for video content, if anyone has any suggestions.

I'm currently working on improving a Pinterest-alike, partly for my own purposes and partly to improve my Python skills. It's not static, of course, bu it's a self-hosted, small-scope thing.

Father in law wanted to share a bunch of photos from his camera, didn't want to mix forty random other people's photos into my various photo archives of chaos.

FGallery is a quick open source CLI tool that will do this! It's handy to have a webserver somewhere that is basically a tmp/ folder for shares.

If I had time, I'd build a android gui tool to give it to normal people. Won't happen in the near future though.

In other news, I now have a sweet gallery of selected baby photos, for the family. Tomorrow, I'll have another gallery for friends.

Went with #MediaGoblin first, but that ended up being an overkill, so it's a set of #fgallery-generated static albums instead. Will have to write a few tools so my wife can update the gallery too, but that should be reasonably easy.
