@Danpiker It's fun playing with the #FeeCad sketcher trying to solve the constraints. Here I added a 5th square but removed the constraints on the enclosing square.The center square vertexes are constrained to the interior edges of the other 4 squares. The outer 2 vertexes of the 4 exterior squares are bound to the edges of the square container. FreeCad is quite scriptable in python and it wouldn't be hard to find minima/maxima for the container size.
