@ami_angelwings The time travel #FavCharacterN will be an odd one. Nik, from "The Girl From Tomorrow".

I mean, I didn't pick Alana or Jenny earlier, so I'm left with the third of their "Dynamic Trio" even though he was only in the second season. (I don't think he even time traveled, but he was instrumental in handling the time gate.)

Helps that there aren't a lot of N options available. #FavCharacterAtoZ

@ami_angelwings I spent a few minutes trying to recall ANY character starting with N, and ended up with Nashandra from Dark Souls II.
She's definitely not my favourite, but I like her as a focal point of the setting's theme of malicious agency in the face of divinely preordained fate.

Nero Wolfe, genius armchair detective, intellectual, orchid grower extraordinaire, gourmand, perpetual layabout who literally has to hire someone to prod him into work (one Archie Goodwin). In a genre full of tough guys Wolfe stands out by his laziness, his fancy schmancy predilections, and the fact fuck those guys he put his money where his mouth was and fought fascist in the Montenegrin campaign.

Just past the halfway point for #FavCharacterAtoZ at #FavCharacterN. Mine comes from a videogame franchise that might be my favorite solo game.

Nathan Drake witty, intelligent, charismatic hero of the Uncharted series.

@ami_angelwings hell yeah it's Kira Nerys! A woman who played no small part in expelling the brutal Cardassian occupiers from her homeworld, yet could still find empathy for them in later years. As part of the resistance she has done questionable things, but does not makes excuses or apologise for them.

The importance of Nobby Nobbs as a Discworld character cannot be overstated. The ...guy... has it all. He could be a king. The rightful king of Ankh Morpork. Almost rightful, let's gowith almost. Or the Dowager Duchess of Quirm, in a pinch. He's your guy if you have a battlefield in need of looting. He's inscrutable. And he's the best example by opposition you could hope for your new recruits.

@ami_angelwings For the letter N I pick Nyaan from Gundam Gquuuuuux!

She is a poor refugee who has no one to rely on and who sometimes does shady things and gets into trouble due to being stuck in poverty. I really liked how this anime incorporated real modern issues into the futuristic space setting. It makes it all feel more real and relatable. In particular I liked her messy relationship with the more privileged (and somewhat selfish) Machu. I plan on rewatching this show soon. It's really good.

@ami_angelwings #FavCharacterAtoZ #FavCharacterN Nell, the main protagonist of The Diamond Age: or, a Young Lady’s Illustrated Primer, by Neal Stephenson. The story begins with her as a small thete child, thetes being the global underclass of slum-dwellers who do not belong to any of the networked phyles which dominate the planet following the collapse of nation-states, and provide a pool of cheap itinerant labor for them. Here's a description of the background situation: https://teaearlgreyhotblog.wordpress.com/2018/03/28/neal-stephenson-the-diamond-age/
As a child, Nell accidentally receives a pirated copy of an interactive nanotech primer/storybook which a member of the aristocracy of the Neo-Victorian phyle had designed for his granddaughter. The primer was designed as a tutor/mentor to cultivate a child to adulthood, and under its influence Nell is drawn out of her slum and, as she grows into young adulthood, navigates life in the Neo-Victorian phyle and the complexities of inter-phyle politics. In particular, she is caught up in the struggle between a world order which depends on the global enforcement of intellectual property accords to prevent technologies of abundance like nanotech matter compilers from destroying capitalism, and a guerrilla movement which seeks to liberate them from artificial scarcity.
