Face Rig

For my project with the working title Sleepwalk and added a very simple, shape key based, face rig to my walking dude.

@beccadax OFC you could also do it like #Vtuber|s and #FaceRig yourself as well as do #BodyTracking, but I kniw not everyone likes #MakeUp, so a 3-hole mask with marker dots to would also allow for the #FaceRigging to work...

Thanks for that! I have about 300 more to test. So far, only Baldur's gate 3 would not run, so I need to look that up on #protondb or something.

Oh, and I think #facerig and anything like that is out for me. Those just do not work.

That one and of course BG3 are a shame because I used to like to steam.

I appreciate your response! I am loving linux so far and getting into scripting and bash more.

@tomasino there's #FaceRig and #Animaze, but they aren't free nor open, and I've heard mixed reviews.

Hey, what was that #Facerig competitor where the core rigging bit was open source? (The app part wasn't, but IWRC that's because it uses non-free assets.)

@bunni As far as I'm aware, the only application available under a FOSS license is #Papagayo (https://lostmarble.com/papagayo). But as I understand it, it is nowhere near a similar feature set to #FaceRig. Where FaceRig is closed source and run in realtime (and has a toolset specifically for streaming), Papagaya is under a GNU license and can only be used on pre-recorded audio. I highly doubt that Papagaya is going to be a good alternative for a #vtuber. While it is extensible, I don't think that realtime animation is it's core focus (if at all). There has been some progress with getting FaceRig to work with Wine on Linux, but your mileage may vary:

is there a #floss #vtuber community?
can I do vtubing with floss programs? (both for creating the model (so #vdroid but floss if I understand right) and for rendering (so #facerig but floss))
bun doesn't know much about it, but did think about it before vtubers were a thing (facerig has been on twitch for a long time, tho I'd guess not as popular as vtubers)
