You don’t know. Perhaps he only stays close to you and looks at you because you’re the only living, moving thing in the room and you’re well-disposed towards him. Perhaps he’s lonely. Dogs are so different with humans when they have a companion dog.

Dogs are so mysterious.

Does Benson only tolerate me because I give him treats, a place to live, and keep him safe?
How do I know I'm making him happy?
Or is he just resigned to this being his fate after his original guardian gave him up?
