Using up a finite resource mindlessly, as fast as possible, in order to "grow", no matter the consequences for one's own vital environment?

I mean, that's the *definition* of #eutrophy.

While "#economy" means thrift.

I propose phasing out the phrase "fossil-fuel based #economy" in favour of "fossil-fuel based #eutrophy" to better describe what's happening.

A certain brand of market liberals: "but the #economy only thrives if it grows, we cannot ask people to consume less, blah blah blah ..."

I'm sorry to burst their bubble, but basing welfare on #growth, and growth on the frantic consumption of a high-energy resource whose availability is limited to a few lifespans and which pollutes the environment in depth?

That isn't actually an "#economy", sorry.

The word you're looking for is "#eutrophy".
