Say goodbye to unsightly erosion!

Preventing sand washout near drains is easier than you think. Start by installing a gravel border around your drains to help absorb excess water and hold the soil in place. Regular maintenance, like clearing debris, is also key to keeping drainage systems...

Hydroseeding: because throwing grass seed at the ground and hoping for the best isn’t a strategy.

It’s controlled, uniform, and built to actually grow — not just “look busy” before the rain hits. 🌱

Mud season doesn’t stand a chance.

#Hydroseeding #ErosionControl #WesternPA

Hydroseeding is basically a smoothie for dirt.

Seed, mulch, fertilizer, water — blended and sprayed so your “future lawn” doesn’t look like a mud pit for the next 6 months. 🌱

Your soil’s favorite protein shake.

Hot take: If your “erosion control plan” is hoping it doesn’t rain… it’s not a plan.

Hydroseeding isn’t cosmetic. It’s infrastructure protection. Stabilize the soil before it stabilizes your budget the hard way. 🌱

What’s more expensive — hydroseeding now, or rebuilding a washed-out slope later?

Erosion doesn’t care about your timeline. Stabilize the soil, establish growth fast, and protect the work you’ve already paid for. 🌱

Bare soil doesn’t wait. One heavy rain can undo weeks of site work.

Hydroseeding locks in seed, stabilizes slopes, and establishes turf fast for reliable erosion control across Western PA. 🌱

Build it right. Protect it early.

Construction site turning to mud? Hydroseeding delivers fast germination, uniform coverage, and serious erosion control. Protect your investment before the next heavy rain hits.

Built for Western PA slopes. Built to hold. 🌱

Preparing for as much as 3" up here on pine mountain tonight & tomorrow by rejuvenating my infiltration pond system.

Problem: Water flows down the hillside, and across our upper driveway then through the mesa of pine trees before flowing onto the lower driveway where it causes ruts and other erosion.

Solution: Slow and sink the water where it has maximum benefit by sinking in to allow the pines to get enough water to fend off bark beetles, and direct it such that it doesn't get onto the road.

I initially created this system of infiltration ponds a few years ago and they've been working great. But the first pond especially fills up with silt during every heavy rain. So I'm digging out the silt and moving it to level out a spot for a 250 gal water tank to live.

We're transitioning to a system where the people fill water from a visible tank during gatherings rather than a spigot feed by out main tank. City folk are too used to turning a faucet and water just comes out, we want them to be more connected with the concept of limited resources that need to be conserved when living #offgrid

6 gorilla carts full of silt have been removed so far.

Where the Dunes Meet the Sea — Zoutelande’s Living Landscape

Last Sunday, as I stood atop the dunes of Zoutelande, I took in a breathtaking view. Below me, the coastline buzzed with life: grandparents at the water’s edge with their grandchild, a small sailboat drifting peacefully across the sea, and beside me in the dune grass, a woman absorbed in her book — both of us quietly observing the world below.

These dunes are more than just scenic vantage points. In the Netherlands, they are vital to our survival. Formed over centuries by wind and tide, dunes serve as natural coastal defenses, protecting our low-lying country from storm surges and sea-level rise. Their height, structure, and vegetation act as buffers against the power of the North Sea.

They are also vibrant ecosystems. From hardy dune grasses to rare species like sea holly and sand lizards, dunes are full of life adapted to shifting sands and salty air. Their fragile balance reminds us of how deeply interconnected we are with nature.

So the next time you find yourself on a dune, take a moment. Look out, breathe in, and appreciate this living landscape — a place of peace, protection, and resilience.
