FR • Pour le deuxième concert organisé dans le cadre de l’exposition 'Musica ex Machina: Machines Thinking Musically', le public est invité à une performance exploratoire au cours de laquelle dix interprètes, installé·es à des tables autour de l’espace, jouent, manipulent ou interagissent avec des moyens expérimentaux de création musicale.
La musique est souvent perçue dans un état binaire, humain ou mécanique. Pour ce concert en lien avec l’exposition, des artistes-chercheur·euses de l’Orpheus Instituut de Gand (BE) explorent l’espace intermédiaire. Ils·elles présentent des instruments nouveaux et étendus, des interfaces inédites, des objets quotidiens réaffectés et l’espace lui-même. Nous faisons l’expérience de l’interaction entre musiciens et algorithmes, de la mécanique à l’IA, dans la composition, l’improvisation et l’installation, pour sonder la technicité inhérente à la musique et à la fabrication de la musique.
EN • For the second concert taking place in the framework of the 'Musica ex Machina: Machines Thinking Musically', the audience is invited in an exploratory performance in which ten performers, installed at tables around the space, play, manipulate or interact with experimental means of music creation.
Music is often seen in a binary state of human or mechanical. For this concert linked to the exhibition, artist-researchers from the Orpheus Instituut, Ghent (BE), explore the space in between. They present new and extended instruments, novel interfaces, repurposed everyday objects and the space itself. We experience the interplay of musicians and algorithms, from the mechanical to AI, in composition, improvisation and installation, to probe the inherent technicity of music and music-making.
