Wow, it’s 3pm already? #emergencyalertuk

Wow! 'er indoors just got a text on her old 2G phone to say that the UK Government will be sending a cell broadcast 'Emergency Alert' test message on 7th September, at 15:00.

Thanks EE, the one mobile device in the house that won't be receiving the broadcast because it's not new enough, as opposed to all the others that won't receive it because I've already switched that crap off!:*

A reminder for anyone that has a "secret" mobile phone for any reason.

Government Emergency Alerts system test.

At 15:00 on Sunday 7 September, the UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system. Compatible mobile phones will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there's a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

Emergency Alert?

Um...nope.

Didn't get it.

From Three: "We're aware that a number of customers have not received the test alert. We're working closely with the government to understand why and ensure it doesn't happen when the system is in use."

Surely the system is already 'in use'?

Not sure what the UK Emergency Alert was all about — the very people who I think should have been contacted as a result of it (those with older phones/less tech aware perhaps) are those I know haven’t had the alert! What’s the feedback loop like? #EmergencyAlertUK #MobilePhoneAlert #bizarre
