Krysset chair by Fredrik A. Kayser for Eikund

Dezeen Showroom: furniture brand Eikund has re-released the Krysset chair, a classic piece of Norwegian furniture originally designed by Fredrik A. Kayser in 1955.

The lounge chair is distinguished by its crossing legs and stretched leather backrest.

The Krysset chair comprises a hardwood frame, leather backrest and cushioned seat

"The crossed legs shape the overall structure of the chair, with darker wooden nails in the joints enhancing the crafted beauty," said Eikund. "The backrest is stretched out like a sail by a piece of leather sewn to the frame."

Krysset's hardwood frame is available in a range of finishes, including soaped oak, oiled oak, white oiled oak, oiled walnut and black lacquered oak.

Street artist Martin Whatson collaborated with Eikund to create a limited edition version of the chair

The leather backrest comes in a choice of light natural, brown and black colours, while the cushioned seat can be upholstered in leather or a variety of fabrics.

Eikund released a limited edition version of Krysset in collaboration with street artist Martin Whatson, which featured Whatson's spray paint art on the frame of the chair.

Hunter lounge chair by Torbjørn Afdal for Eikund

Dezeen Showroom: Eikund has re-released a classic of Norwegian design, Torbjørn Afdal's Hunter lounge chair, which features a leather seat pulled taut by buckles.

Designed in 1960, the Hunter chair represented Afdal's take on a popular style of seating at the time known as the "hunting chair", made of solid wood and saddle leather.

Eikund has relaunched and updated Torbjørn Afdal's 1960 design for the Hunter chair

Afdal's version of the chair has a minimalistic aesthetic and is designed to have a fluid and organic form.

Eikund has subtly updated the Hunter chair for its relaunch so it stays true to the design while incorporating the latest innovations in materials and processes, giving it additional durability and timelessness.

The chair features saddle leather that is stretched over the frame using buckles at the back

It features organically tanned leather, solid cast brass buckles, edge stitching details and smooth transitions of wood.

The Hunter chair is available in hardwoods ranging from pale soaped oak to dark oiled walnut or black lacquered oak, while the aniline leather saddle comes in natural, black or cognac colours.

Fluffy chair by Fredrik A. Kayser for Eikund

Dezeen Showroom: furniture brand Eikund has released an updated version of Fredrik A. Kayser's Fluffy chair, known for its long-haired sheepskin seat.

The Fluffy chair is a piece of Norwegian design heritage with contemporary appeal and in 2021 it won an NYCxDESIGN Awards nomination in the Iconic Product category.

Launched by Kayser in 1954, the statement chair combines its distinctive long sheepskin upholstery with sloping wood armrests, designed to encourage the sitter to sink deeply into the soft seat.

It is described as "a floating cloud of fluffiness" by Eikund, which uses a hairdresser to trim the fur once it is on the chair, to give the piece its refined appearance.

Fluffy is available with either black or white sheepskin upholstery, both with natural depth and variation in colour.

The hardwood frame comes in pale oak or dark walnut hardwoods, with a range of finish options.
