2. George William Butler joined the 1st Battalion (51st Foot) King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Service No. 3378. Rank Corporal (A/L/Sgt. Enlisted on 12th July 1897, took part in the South African War between (1899-1902). Served seven years with the Colours and five years on Reserve. During that time, he was a labour at the Plant Spring Shop. He re-enlisted in November 1914. #WW1 #doncasterplantworks

Arthur Boothman was born in 1894, Doncaster.
Arthur joined the Plant Works on 8th May 1909. In 1911 his occupation was a Wagon Smith aged 16, the family lived at 70, Spring Gardens, Doncaster.
He joined the Royal Engineers, 229th Field Regiment. Rank Sapper. No. 99345.. #WW1 #doncasterplantworks
2. On the 22nd September 1914 he joined the Doncaster Plant Works as a Rivetter. In June 1918 he married Sarah Adelaide Read in Doncaster, they had one son Reginald.
He left the Plant Works and joined the KOYLI’s. He died of his wounds on 24th August 1918, France age 22. He is buried at Fienvillers British Cemetery, France #WWI #familyhistory #KOYLI #doncasterplantworks
