1000 Day Album Challenge (#26) Echo & The Bunnymen: Echo & The Bunnymen (1968) [26.01.24]
I've got a handful of this / what do I do with it?
billed as a Mini-Album, this was released in 1983 between Porcupine and Ocean Rain. it clocks in at about 22 minutes. the lead track, Never Stop, is the only new song. I actually didn’t think I remembered it. then I listened and instantly recalled it. I’m sure there are countless other songs with which I could have a similar experience. three previously releases songs follow – Rescue (from Crocodiles), The Cutter and Back of Love (from Porcupine).
Echo & The Bunnymen were one of my favorite bands from my college years. including this one I owned their first five albums. Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here came out while I was still in high school, but I don’t recall if I bought them then. my best guess in my now advanced years is that I didn’t. (just don’t hold me to that.)
without the live version of Do It Clean, which closes the record, I’m not sure I would have bought this record. I would to say that this version of Do It Clean became my go to E & The B listen. it is certainly what I looked for when YouTube came along. the YT video I return to over and over was posted 16 years ago. I probably discovered it soon after it was posted.
