Jesus Is More Than You Ever Dreamed
DID YOU KNOW
Did You Know that when the writer of Hebrews calls Jesus “the exact representation” of God’s being (Hebrews 1:3), he is saying something no prophet, priest, or angel ever claimed?
This single phrase lifts Jesus far above the category of a religious teacher and places Him squarely in the realm of deity. In Greek, the phrase translated “exact representation” is charaktēr, a word describing the precise imprint made by a stamp or seal. In other words, Jesus is not a “reflection” of God like a moon reflecting sunlight—He is the direct imprint of the Father’s own nature. That means His authority is not borrowed. It isn’t delegated. It flows from the fact that He shares the same divine essence as the Father. When Jesus speaks, God speaks. When Jesus acts, God acts. As He Himself said in John 14:9, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” The relationship is so intimate, so unified, that to know the Son is to know the Father fully.
This truth shapes how we read the Gospels. When Jesus forgives a sinner, it is God forgiving. When He lifts the brokenhearted, it is God comforting. When He calls us to repentance, it is God calling His people home. There is no distinction of message, tone, or character between the Father and the Son because they are one in being and one in purpose. This means we can trust the authority of Jesus completely—not because He taught stunningly, healed miraculously, or preached powerfully, but because He is God speaking in human flesh. Hebrews 1:3 reminds us that Jesus does not point us to God; He reveals God. He is the radiance of divine glory, shining into our world with a brilliance that the darkness cannot overcome.
When you consider this, it changes how you pray, how you worship, and even how you read Scripture. You are not following a distant deity or a cosmic mystery; you are walking with a Savior who carries the full heart of the Father. Today, take time to reflect on the profound comfort of this truth: if you have seen Jesus—His compassion, His courage, His holiness, His self-giving love—then you have seen the Father’s heart toward you. Let this draw you closer to Him with confidence and peace.
Did You Know that the same Jesus who is the “radiance of God’s glory” (Hebrews 1:3) is also the One through whom the entire universe was created?
Hebrews 1:2 says plainly that God “made the universe through Him.” This echoes the magnificent opening of John’s Gospel, which declares, “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3). Paul adds the same in Colossians 1:16, reminding us that “all things were created by Him and for Him.” When we put these passages together, a breathtaking truth becomes clear: the carpenter from Nazareth is the Creator of galaxies, oceans, starfields, and atoms. The hands that broke bread with fishermen once shaped the rings of Saturn. The voice that said, “Follow Me,” is the same voice that spoke light into existence.
This should stir our hearts with both awe and intimacy. The One who sustains all things by His powerful word—meaning the universe itself holds together because Jesus wills it—also entered that universe in humility to redeem us. The Creator became the Redeemer. The One who holds the cosmos in His grip allowed nails to pierce His hands. This kind of love is not theoretical; it is deeply personal. Hebrews teaches us that the Son not only made all things but continues to uphold all things. Every heartbeat, every breath, every sunrise is held in place by His ongoing care. If He sustains creation so faithfully, how much more can He sustain your life, your fears, your challenges, your future?
Let this truth reshape how you approach your day. You may feel overwhelmed, but the One who crafted the stars walks with you. You may be facing decisions that feel too large, but the One who designed the laws of physics speaks wisdom into your heart. As you move through today, remember: the Creator is not distant—He is your Savior, your Shepherd, and your ever-present help. Trust Him with the details of your life, because the One who holds the universe can surely hold you.
Did You Know that Jesus alone could “provide purification for sins” and then sit down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven (Hebrews 1:3)?
This short phrase captures the entire arc of God’s redemptive plan. In the Old Testament, priests stood daily, offering repeated sacrifices that could never fully cleanse the conscience. Their work was never finished. But when Jesus offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice, He accomplished what no priest, no ritual, no human effort ever could. His sacrifice was once for all. After providing purification for sins, He sat down—a posture of completion, authority, and triumph. No angel could do this. No prophet could do this. No righteous human could do this. Only the Son of God, fully divine and fully human, could stand in our place and open the way into the presence of God.
Sitting at the right hand of God also declares His kingship. In ancient courts, the right hand was the place of highest honor, authority, and power. Psalm 110:1 foretold this moment centuries earlier: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” Jesus fulfilled it perfectly. He is not only our Redeemer but also our reigning King. His work on the cross and in the resurrection establishes Him as the only mediator who can bring us to God. As Hebrews later says, “We have such a high priest—one who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven” (Hebrews 8:1). His seated position means the work is finished. Salvation is complete. The door to grace stands wide open.
Let this truth encourage you today: you do not stand before God uncertain or insecure. You stand clothed in the righteousness of the One who sits in victory. When shame whispers lies, remember that the work of forgiveness is finished. When fear tells you God is distant, remember that Jesus stands between you and every accusation. His purification is perfect. His position is secure. And because He is seated at the right hand of God, your hope is anchored in a Savior who reigns forever.
Did You Know that Jesus has “become as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs” (Hebrews 1:4)?
In the first-century world, many believers held angels in high regard, sometimes bordering on worship. The writer of Hebrews corrects that gently but firmly. Angels are extraordinary beings—messengers, warriors, ministers of God’s will—but they are created beings nonetheless. Jesus, however, is not created. He is begotten of the Father, sharing the same divine nature. His name, His authority, His identity, and His work place Him infinitely above any angelic being. Angels serve; Jesus commands. Angels worship; Jesus receives worship. Angels are sent; Jesus is enthroned. There is no comparison.
This matters for us today because we live in an age fascinated by spiritual beings, energy, mysticism, and supernatural curiosity. Hebrews calls us to lift our eyes higher. Don’t settle for awe of created things. Fix your wonder on the Son who is greater than the highest angel. Psalm 148 declares that even angels praise Him. Revelation 5 shows myriads of angels singing, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.” The entire spiritual realm bends the knee before Jesus—not because He is like them, but because He is God.
Let the greatness of Jesus steady your heart. You do not pray to a lesser being. You do not worship a created messenger. You follow the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the radiance of God’s glory, the exact imprint of His nature. In every fear, every unanswered question, every moment of searching, remember that the One who stands above angels stands beside you. Let that truth draw you nearer in trust, in devotion, and in love.
When you step back and consider these four truths together, they form a clear and encouraging message: Jesus is God’s final and perfect revelation—fully divine, fully trustworthy, fully glorious. Knowing Him is knowing God Himself. Trusting Him is anchoring your life in the One who sustains the universe. As you continue your journey, take time to ask: What does it mean for my daily life that Jesus is the exact representation of God? What fears can I release because Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father? What hope can I carry because my Savior is greater than all created beings? Let these reflections draw you closer to Him today.
