After Babel: Digital Theology and Contextualities

"The upcoming conference will explore the interrelation between theology, contextuality and digital technology with particular focus on intercontextuality."

I look forward to this #CFP every year. Participating in this #DigitalTheology Conference is always worth my time. I suggest it will be for you, too! https://www.gonedigital.media/conference-1

Conference — GoneDigital

GoneDigital

Sorry I spoke too soon, there was one more thought provoker I wanted to share. #digitaltheology

8. In today's physical church settings it is the younger generation who struggle to conform to the liturgical practices. In digital settings, such as Zoom church or VR church, it is the older generation who are on the back foot and are struggling to engage in church servicves hosted in the new medium (h/t Frida Mannerfelt)

One more thought provoker for today #digitaltheology

7. There is a theological implication to the medium by which we consume scripture - when we listen to the spoken word we ourselves must be silent and attend fully, we must conform to the pace of the speaker and we should avoid distraction but if we read we are able to go away and come back It is a less humble position. (h/t Paul S Williams).

And a few more thought provokers in #digitaltheology

6. How does the technology we create form us (h/t @johndyer)? Are we thinking through properly what our users are becoming?

More thought provokers in #digitaltheology

4. Technology is shaped largely by business use (Teams) what could it look like if it was shaped by the church e.g. being able to sing together online (h/t @pmphillips)

5. What does it mean to be a church leader in a context where discipleship is networked (h/t Jonas Kurlberg) - i.e. we get our teaching from more than just the pulpit - I wonder whether "church coach" would be a more helpful label instead of leader?

Recent thought provokers in #digitaltheology

1. How can we leverage ordinariness of tech usage in our spiritual practices and habits (h/t Jonas Kurlberg)

2. How do we better "indwell" in the location we find outselves in - if we think of tech as a house - what behaviours make it a home? (h/t Jonas Kurlberg)

3. Technology can make us vulnerable and this affects how we interact with each other. What does this mean for VR church et al (h/t Frida Mannefelt)

Getting my avatar ready for tonight's Bible in the Metaverse event - can't wait!
