So I have this copy of a cookbook that can help many of my migraine patients, but there is no legal way to give them this book, except to give my last copy away to one of them. (I might very well have the last legal copy in the world.) No one loses profits from getting copies, and lots of people would benefit, but the only ways to achieve those goals would be illegal.

Reminds me of this case of IP interference: Once, a drug rep for a company making migraine medicine gave me a copy of a "Migraine Sufferers' Cookbook".
Years later, I asked for another copy, but they said: "Oh, we sold the rights to that medication to a different company." I asked that different company, and they said "We only make the medication; we've never heard of this Cookbook."
