FYI: The Trade Desk tests Claude for campaign creation: The Trade Desk's closed beta lets advertisers build campaigns through Claude, raising real questions about defaults, optimization logic, expertise, and transparency in programmatic buying. https://ppc.land/the-trade-desk-tests-claude-for-campaign-creation/ #TradeDesk #ClaudeAI #ProgrammaticBuying #DigitalMarketing #AdTech

Students often have a hard time conceptualizing maximum entropy (#MaxEnt) methods. Here's a little two-application demo (species distribution modeling and NLP) [written by #ClaudeAI] that helps make the construction of these distributions a little clearer.

Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) — interactive explainer

An interactive explainer for the Maximum Entropy principle: explore how MaxEnt selects the least-assumptive probability distribution consistent with known constraints, and how it connects to the Gibbs/softmax distribution and Simulated Annealing.

Nice little visualizer (via #ClaudeAI) of the effect of temperature on softmax. Maybe not the most complex complex topic but still something I think some students like to see just to help confirm their intuition.

Softmax Temperature Explorer — interactive explainer

An interactive explorer for the softmax (Gibbs) distribution: see how temperature controls the sharpness of probability distributions over discrete choices, connecting MaxEnt methods to Simulated Annealing and reinforcement learning.

Goodbye, Google Chrome: Replacing My Mobile Browser for 30 Days with GenAI

Just over a month ago, for reasons I can't quite remember, I decided to try out a little experiment. I know it stemmed from that vague sense of frustration that Cal Newport claims most (tech) writers suffer at some point: the feeling of being thoroughly, pointlessly addicted to technology. Like pretty much everyone I know, I spend way too much time using my phone. Between attention-seeking social media notifications, emails, and the near-constant urge to Google totally useless information, […]

Another day, another demo that #ClaudeAI rapidly turned out for me and my students. This one is about Radial Basis Function Neural Networks (RBFNN's) and their relationship to SVM. Even visualizes a PCA of the high-dimensional latent space right within the browser.

Radial Basis Function Neural Network — interactive explorer

An interactive explorer for radial basis function (RBF) neural networks: adjust centers, widths, and weights to see how a sum of radial kernels approximates arbitrary functions.

One more interactive demo rapidly built with "show me how" in #ClaudeAI. This time on Parallel Tempering (PT)/Replica Exchange Monte Carlo (REMC). It's fantastic to be able to put these high-quality materials for students (and during lectures) together so quickly.

Parallel Tempering / REMC — interactive explainer

An interactive explainer for Parallel Tempering (Replica Exchange Monte Carlo): how running multiple annealing chains at different temperatures and swapping configurations helps escape local optima.

One more from #ClaudeAI's new ability to "show me how...". This time, I had it build an interactive demonstration of the Ideal Free Distribution from behavioral ecology (which I use to talk about fitness sharing in multi-modal genetic algorithms).

Ideal Free Distribution — interactive explainer

An interactive visualization of the Ideal Free Distribution: how animals distribute themselves across resource patches to maximize individual fitness, motivating fitness sharing in multi-modal genetic algorithms.
