One issue I noticed with the Cherry KW X ULP keyboard, but luckily it has an easy workaround. By default the F1-F12 keys act as their special functions instead of sending F1, F2, etc. To disable this mode, press Ctrl + Fn to lock the Fn key. Then Ctrl+Alt+F1 should drop you to a Linux TTY terminal like normal.
