However, it's my experience that feral tom cats are very tied to their area, especially before neutering. It may be best to speak to your neighbours, if you'd feel comfortable with that, or simply to get him what veterinary care you can before you go (assuming he's boxable - our last two certainly weren't, despite our attempts).
