If you thought of routing/switching your phone from the big networks in South Africa to the smaller ones like #CapitecConnect, don't even try. The contract to my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 was already payed off in full in June last year, so #Vodacom put a random 6 month extention on the contract. We weren't in a place where good cellphone reception was possible in December so we phoned in January to cancel the contract. This lady said she could give us a contract that we could pay 309 rand a month and could cancel anytime we want if we weren't satisfied. We said no, but the end of January, 309 rand went off the bill, ok that's luckily not 1000 rand like when we still had to pay for the Z Flip4. Still, my mum is retired now, so we contacted #Vodacom again, and the 309 rand contract got reversed, and supposedly cancelled. When we went to #Capitec on 7 March to route my number to CapitecConnect, they said the routing should take between 24 and 48 hours. No problem, I assumed the current vodacom sim would switch off by Sunday or at the latest Monday. Here comes Wednesday, 96 hours later. I phoned #Vodacom customer services, first have to jump through a million hoops to get to a bloody consultant. Then get told by the consultant that no, I should phone Capitec, because they're the ones running the routing when the routing is from vodacom to their network, so I phone Capitec, and the guy took about 15 minutes to come back to me, with the following answer: "Mr van Schalkwyk, Your sim-card doesn't comply to our standards for routing, we cannot route sim-cards that are on contract." So yeah, I'm stuck with #Vodacom for the rest of the forseeable future. Only thing, the contract doesn't show on my mom's vodacom list for phone numbers any more, so somewhere along the line, we're going to run into legal trouble because no-one owns this phone number according to vodacom's app, yet it's still on contract according to Capitec. HumanKind they say, I say HumanCruel. They lie, cheat, and steal from you whenever they like, they murder people just because they like committing war. Why the creator even allows this to continue is beyond me. If it was me, I'd have ended it all long ago, but luckily I'm not the creator, so thank the inverted dog that I'm not the creator. I'm on meds to supposedly calm me down/restore the chemical imballance in my brain, but being chased to and fro between networks just to hear that...ahem...you'll have to pay us for the rest of your life, but actually because you're not the contract holder, your mum is gonna pay us until she is no more, and when she dies, you are stuck without a phone. Whatever...Life is life.

Capitec in South Africa launches virtual debit card

Capitec’s virtual card is a digital bank card that is saved on a client’s Capitec banking app. It can be used as a normal physical card for online shipping, with the added advantage that nobody can steal or duplicate it. Capitec said its virtual card is available to all of its clients and can be used to securely make payments and purchase products online.
It can also be set as the default card for scan-to-pay transactions and loaded for payment onto apps such as Netflix, Takealot, and Uber.
For the record I don't bank with Capitec but I know they have happy clients, seem to charge the best banking rates, have recently started doing home loans too, and an innovative approach to their account linkages. All banks should be issuing virtual debit and credit cards for fraud prevention.
