We get zero OTA TV signals
Tonight was the first night it hurt after #Spectrum stopped #cableCard support in our area and cut our card off. We had several finales going on. I'm not paying for their dvr service. I've recorded over the air or via cablecard for +30 years
The tv season is about up and by the next, we will have a remote DVR/PVR setup
We're putting a TV tuner in my brother's system, he has A+ OTA sig & he has fiber
#NextPVR will run it there and we will m3u tuner it into #JellyFin
Mad as hell
After threatening us for months that they were going to discontinue #CableCard services & to switch to one of their cloud DVR plans, #Spectrum finally shut mine down.
I've used a cableCard for decades, recording live TV. First they shutdown QAM & now CableCards.
I also live in an area that gets zero OTA tv stations so I am damned to bend the knee.
Jokes on them. Thank goodness I have decades old DVR of faithful go to classics.
The #FCC is dropping the ball, if you ask me.
anybody know if they've dropped support for these?
The chat bot was adamant they no longer offer them...and that would suck
@tedivm those standards already exists for ages: Like the #CI specification of #DVB and all the subsequent #CommonScramblingAlgorithm-adding key generation algorithms from #BISS-E to the (non-CSA - based) #PowerVu.
And with neither #NetNeutrality nor #CableCard being enforced exprect them to forcibly bundle those things with shit Recievers that one can only rent.
Also whilst this may impact spectrum use on terrestrial more, it's impact on Satellite and Cable is higher.

This is amazingly fucked up. Broadcasters are trying to pass a new standard for broadcasting that allows them to encrypt their broadcasts. This means that people who use antennas to watch television will have to pay to upgrade their equipment and then pay on top of that to actually watch. The airwaves are a limited resource that broadcasters get free access to. This amounts to a huge policy change that steals a common resource for corporate gains. https://blog.lon.tv/2023/07/10/the-fcc-responds-to-my-atsc-3-encryption-complaint-they-want-to-hear-from-you/
