DetroitCineasteBugonia fits squarely within the “science fiction as metaphor” tradition, where the question being asked is both philosophical and incredibly consequential. Underneath the alien paranoia and kidnapping plot lies a delightfully quirky character study reflected through a cockeyed lens. As a fan of challenging sci-fi, I loved it. Highly Recommended.

No me gusta informarme mucho de las películas que ya sé que voy a ver, lo que me ha llevado a enterarme sobre la marcha de que Bugonia es un remake de la coreana Save the Green Planet que vi en los dos miles.

HXRDKINGBugonia is an engaging film that deliberately blurs the line between paranoia and reality.
Its treatment of conspiracy theories is intentionally ambiguous—it could be read as a critique of conspiratorial thinking, or as an invitation to question official narratives.

The other 3, in order of preference, are:
The Secret Agent, One Battle After Another, Bugonia.
The last 2 absolutely do not deserve to be considered Best Picture despite having many excellent aspects.
Overall, the last two are too inconsistent and problematic in too many ways, for me.

wolfkinI still think Emma Stone did something special in Bugonia. But honestly Jessie Buckley was fantastic in Hamnet. The movie overall was kinda dry and meandering but holy heck did that ending come together. That was an ending that brings you to tears.

Bugonia: Not good.
Unnecessary level of misogynistic violence, an ending with an unnecessary level of silliness, and a main male character that is pure toxic masculinity and sadistically cruel.
Along with the ridiculous ending of #PoorThings (which should have stuck with the much better book ending), Yorgos may be too self-indulgent.
I love #Dogtooth, but these two fail in overall story, for me.
Still gonna try his previous work 🤞🏿
