De 10 Belgische universiteiten vragen aan minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Maxime Prévot (Les Engagés) om bij de Europese Raad aan te dringen op een onmiddellijke opschorting van het Associatieverdrag met Israël. Dat verdrag bepaalt dat Israëlische onderzoekers kunnen meedoen aan Europese onderzoeksprogramma's. Zo'n opschorting zou het voor universiteiten makkelijker maken om samenwerkingen met Israëlische partners te stoppen. "We denken dat er een duidelijker signaal nodig is vanuit de Europese Unie aan Israël."
