that's not even it afaik. they were previously mad at him for his #BlockTheBlue campaign on twitter for everyone to block all blue checkmarks as soon as you saw them. their reasoning was that the campaign should be "block the blue, except sex workers" because they "needed the checkmark for work."

- Summary: The Chrome Web Store offers an extension called "Block The Blue - Twitter Verified Blocker" which automatically blocks users verified by Twitter Blue. The extension ignores organizational verifications and will block any blue verified users, inspired by the #BlockTheBlue campaign. The extension directly interacts with Twitter's DOM and briefly shows pop-ups of the blocking interface. It has a maximum limit of blocking 125,000 accounts.
Block The Blue - Twitter Verified Blocker

Automatically blocks users verified by Twitter Blue.

What's probably even funnier, is the reason he's most likely decided to scrap the block option.

Not only did #BlockTheBlue trend for days on Twitter after the $8 subscription service went live, with people blocking any account with a checkmark.
But one of the most blocked users on Twitter, is the Apartheid beneficiary himself.

I joked earlier that this was because Grimes probably blocked him but I think now it has more to do with the tremendous failure that buying blue checks caused. #blocktheblue basically owned Elon so hard and he had to let people hide their check marks. #twitter
after #blocktheblue campaign musk now removes the block function. the blue subscribers now get the attention they seek. #twitter turns to be an anti-social network

Once again Elon showing his hostility towards his users. I'm sure this is in response to the #BlockTheBlue movement.

@esvrld Because plenty of those calling for #BlockTheBlue are already presupposed to oppose sex work on moral or "exploitation" grounds; and because not having Twitter Blue does block a user from some features that are useful for outreach.

Although, given how much Musk has tainted the app with his own Nazi/Alt-Right brand and fetish, it's increasingly not worth either the cost nor the association.
