Today my ability to detect bad writing and poor research from USA authors trying to write about Regency England was overwhelmed by a narrator who went from using USA vowel sounds in a supposed English accent to the repeated use of "War wick" with a long a. In the second half of the book the name was used over and over.
Ouch.

Me, in a private room at karaoke, singing an Irish folk song: "Man I am NAILING this. Move over Derry Girls, there's a new lass in town."
Me, curious about how it came out, recording me singing it a cappella at home: "oh. ohhhh noo. oh god no. what have I done. I'd like to formally apologize to the Dubliners, to Ireland, and to the very idea of accents themselves."

I've been watching the second DVD of the single-season show Legend from 1995 tonight. I don't believe I saw it when it aired, but it's possible I saw an episode. It's Richard Dean Anderson and John De Lancie as an author turned adventurer and a Nicola Tesla clone as his friend and inventor/collaborator. It's silly, and if it reminds me of anything it's the Young Indiana Jones show, rather than Briscoe County. #tv #oldshow #badaccents
