Some children play, others fight for survival... We will not remain silent for the children of Rojava.
Together with our children, we will create a tree of life out of fingerprints. May each fingerprint be a symbol of hope and each branch protect a child's right to life.
Then, shoulder to shoulder, we will carry this tree of life and march with the voices, colors, and strength of the children.

Liebe Familien und geliebte Kinder,
manche Kinder spielen, andere kämpfen ums Überleben... Wir werden für die Kinder von Rojava nicht schweigen.
Wir werden mit unseren Kindern einen Baum des Lebens aus Fingerabdrücken gestalten. Möge jeder Fingerabdruck eine Hoffnung sein und jeder Ast das Recht eines Kindes auf Leben schützen.
Anschließend werden wir Schulter an Schulter diesen Baum des Lebens tragen und mit den Stimmen, Farben und der Kraft der Kinder marschieren.

About the film:
In April 1980, 3,000 miners rose up in Sabuk (South Korea) to demand their labour rights. The military government responded by declaring a state of emergency and violently suppressing the uprising.

The documentary contributes to a historical reappraisal of state violence and lends weight to the ongoing demands for an official apology and redress from the state.

Zum Film:
Im April 1980 erhoben sich in Sabuk (Südkorea) 3.000 Bergleute, um ihre Arbeitsrechte einzufordern. Die Militärregierung reagierte mit der Ausrufung des Ausnahmezustands und der gewaltsamen Unterdrückung des Aufstands.

Der Dokumentarfilm trägt zu einer historischen Aufarbeitung staatlicher Gewalt bei und verleiht den anhaltenden Forderungen nach einer offiziellen Entschuldigung und Wiedergutmachung durch den Staat Gewicht.

Noam Shuster Eliassi @noam_joon grew up in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, a village where Jewish and Palestinian families live together by choice – for a long time, her role as a peace activist seemed prewritten.

“Coexistence, My Ass!” follows her transformation into a satirist who, through stand-up comedy and political satire, finds an uncompromising voice and confronts her audience with hard truths – even when laughter gets stuck in the throat.

After the screening, a conversation will take place on the shift from coexistence to co-resistance and the current situation in Israel Palestine.

What do these concepts mean politically and culturally, and at what point do art and satire inevitably begin to have societal impact?

Noam Shuster Eliassi @noam_joon wuchs in Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam auf, einem Dorf, in dem jüdische und palästinensische Familien freiwillig zusammenleben – lange Zeit schien ihre Rolle als Friedensaktivistin vorbestimmt zu sein.

„Coexistence, My Ass!“ begleitet ihre Wandlung zur Satirikerin, die durch Stand-up-Comedy und politische Satire eine kompromisslose Stimme findet und ihr Publikum mit harten Wahrheiten konfrontiert – auch wenn einem das Lachen im Hals stecken bleibt.

Nach der Vorführung findet ein Gespräch über den Wandel von Koexistenz zu gemeinsamer Resistenz und die aktuelle Situation in Israel/Palästina statt.
