I just finished watching the Victorian Alps-set crime series High Country.

Before that, I binged on all the Mystery Road episodes and the prequels.

Peak Australian-gothic mystery stuff, & I love it.

What should I hit next? Any recommendations gratefully received. 🙏

At every beach house there is a frangipani tree, and inside the house frangipani decor inhabits sideboards and walls. It has always been this way. They watch the inhabitants of the house as they go about their holiday and siphon the mites of happiness peeling off skin like sunburn. This is why you feel empty when you return home.

The television antenna exists on every house, a raised hand extending from the earth of shared humanity towards the voices broadcast by prophets true and false, grasping at aphorisms and platitudes, and discussed and dissected over pints and takeaway cups. Then everyone declares their own hallelujah.

Dusk in suburbia - Australian Gothic

In every second backyard is a trampoline, netted for the protection of little ones and now the haunt of summer spiders because it is no longer used.
Everyone has a story of a near fatal double bounce, of twisted wrists and ankles, and spraying the hose during the summer heat.
The shadows will lengthen and barbeques will smoke, and the ghosts will waft through the haze of Aerogard
