The sympathetic renovation of a Victorian Courts house - The Courts - Creative Youth Network - Bristol. Undertaken by myself and Anna Kostreva as Plural Studio, we provided consultation, paint choice workshops and suggestions, coordination of the interior for three floors including carpet wall and furniture guidance, budgeting and implementation guides for site workers. This was a huge project for us, our largest at that time. It also offered us a way to explore synthesizing our interdisciplinary skills: socially engaged artistic practice meets architectural design and planning. Painting and drawing meets political and historical research and analysis. What a building! We had the pleasure of working for four stake-holders including the Youth Advisory Board to transform the tight and traumatic energy of this building into a colorful and exciting work-in James Turrel light work.
